Breakdown KOH leaked out from a D-cell Alkaline battery?

One of the 3 D-cell batteries inside my Mag-Lite flashlight leaked KOH all over the inside and is now stuck. Best answer to the person that can give me a solvent to use that might breakdown the potium hydroxide and save my flashlight! Please keep my safety in consideration...
