My mother in law is nosey?

I live with my mother in law we usually get along but she is very opinionated and nosey even with my kids . To the point that when I cook she wants to help but confronts me if I don't do it her way.She has been divorced for some time, and it seems that she needs love and to back off. When I tell my husband about her behavior instead of listening & being on my side he says that I did something wrong. We have never lived in our own house, so I dream for the day it happens. ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!!!!
