Car heater questions need some help?

i have an old truck and don't have the money to fix the original heater so i was wondering if there are any kind of "plug in" heaters that go in the cig lighter or what? some one suggested getting a power converter and plugging in a regular little heater but im not sure how much power the cig lighter could handle
