Having trouble seeing the point of plato, cicero and aristotle?

i'm having a bitta trouble 'getting' this philosophy. i completely understand it,but i just dont see the point. if anyone could persuade me that i NEED to and SHOULD read these texts to enlighten me pls tellme!! i'm be ESPECIALLY interested if anyone know anything about their relation to renaissance literature....
