How come mainstream country sucks so much?

These new acts like Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley etc. seem to have less in common with the true legacies of country music, like Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, than do the musicians who are embraced by the Indie or rock communities such as Conor Oberst, Jack White, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams. Why is this corporate country so corrupted?
